Enfield Technologies
High-performance proportional pneumatic control.
Enfield Technologies builds high-performance proportional control components for pneumatic systems -- proportional valves, electronic pressure regulators, motorized needle valves and cylinder positioning systems. The distinction that matters is proportional rather than on-off: these are parts you specify when a cylinder has to stop somewhere other than the end of its stroke, or when pressure or flow has to follow a command signal rather than switch between two states. The company groups its own catalog around pressure control, position control and flow control.
What we carry, by measurement
Pick what you’re measuring.
The core of the line. Pick by port configuration first -- how many ports and positions the application needs -- then by the series within that configuration.
2/2 proportional valves (PFV, RCV and VQV series)
Two-port, two-position proportional solenoid valves for liquid and gas flow control.
Use it whenUse one when a single inlet and single outlet need metered, variable flow rather than full-open or full-closed -- dosing, blending, ramping a gas feed. This is the simplest proportional building block, so start here unless the application needs directional control.
5/3 proportional directional valves (ECS, ELB, Enfinity and LS series)
High-speed five-port, three-position proportional directional pneumatic control valves.
Use it whenUse one when you must drive an actuator in both directions and also hold it, with proportional control over how fast it moves. This is the valve behind servo-pneumatic motion, and the third position is what lets you stop mid-stroke instead of slamming to an end stop.
Proportional pinch valves (EQV series)
Proportional pinch valves for hygienic, high-purity and sanitary service and for corrosive liquids and gases.
Use it whenUse one when the fluid must never touch the valve internals -- pharmaceutical, food, single-use or aggressive chemical lines. The valve squeezes the tube, so cleanability and cross-contamination stop being valve problems.
Motorized needle valves (ENV series)
Two-port motorized needle valves for proportional flow adjustment of liquids and gases.
Use it whenUse one when you want a needle valve's fine, stable metering but under remote or automatic adjustment instead of somebody turning a knob. Good fit for trim and setpoint duty that gets adjusted occasionally rather than continuously modulated.
Where the controlled variable is a pressure or an actuator position rather than a flow rate.
Electronic pressure regulators (TR series)
High-speed, high-accuracy electronic pressure regulators.
Use it whenUse one when a process needs pressure to track an electrical command signal and to change quickly -- test stands, tension control, web and roll applications, force control on a cylinder. Choose this over a mechanical regulator whenever the setpoint has to be changed by the control system rather than by hand.
Cylinder positioning systems (S2 series)
Air cylinder positioning systems for linear and rotary actuators.
Use it whenUse one when you need a pneumatic actuator to behave like a servo -- commanded to and held at intermediate positions. Specify this instead of moving to hydraulics or electric actuation when the plant already runs on compressed air and the loads suit it.
Proportional pneumatics are less forgiving of dirty or wet air than on-off pneumatics, so the support parts are part of the specification, not an afterthought.
Air preparation, manifolds and fittings
Air preparation components, manifolds and fittings for the valve range.
Use it whenSpecify air preparation with any proportional valve. Contamination and moisture that an on-off valve shrugs off will show up as drift and sticking in a proportional one.
Cables, sensors, power supplies and signal sources
Cables, sensors, power supplies and signal sources for commanding and closing the loop around the valves.
Use it whenUse a signal source when commissioning or bench-testing a valve without the machine controller in place, and order the matching cables rather than fabricating them -- proportional valves are sensitive to wiring and noise.
