FLOMEC
Liquid flowmeters for chemicals, water, fuels, oils, and beverage.
FLOMEC makes precision flow meters for liquids - fuels, oils, chemicals, solvents, water, and beverage. The line is built around three sensing technologies: oval gear positive displacement for accuracy on clean liquids at almost any viscosity, turbine for general industrial and water duty, and insertion paddlewheel and ultrasonic for large pipes where installed cost matters more than the last half percent. Meters are sold with local displays, pulse outputs, or paired with FLOMEC's own rate totalisers and batch controllers.
What we carry, by measurement
Pick what you’re measuring.
Two rotating gears displace a known volume per revolution, so the reading does not care about viscosity, and no straight pipe run is needed.
OM Series
The flagship oval gear line, with only two moving parts, offered in small capacity (eighth-inch to three-eighths-inch pipe), medium (half-inch to two-inch) and large (three-inch to four-inch), with pulse output, LCD display, or a purely mechanical display, and with IECEx and ATEX models available.
Use it whenThis is the one to reach for when accuracy on a clean liquid matters and the liquid is thick, non-conductive, or expensive. FLOMEC makes the point directly: at very low flow with high viscosity, other technologies disappoint and the small-capacity OM does not. Typical duty is bulk transfer and dispensing of diesel, gasoline, biofuels, kerosene, glycols, DEF/AdBlue, lube oils and greases, edible oils, solvents, resins and adhesives. Choose the mechanical display version where there is no power and nobody wants a battery to manage.
OM025P chemical meter (PPS / Ryton)
A one-inch OM-body meter with internals made entirely of PPS (Ryton) and alumina ceramic instead of metal, which FLOMEC positions as a cost-effective alternative to a stainless meter where chemical resistance is critical but pressure and temperature are low.
Use it whenUse it when the liquid attacks standard engineering metals - fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, DEF, non-potable and demineralised water, and aggressive or corrosive chemicals - and the line is not hot or high pressure. FLOMEC prints an explicit warning to confirm chemical compatibility before purchase, so pass the actual fluid and concentration back to them rather than assuming.
EGM Series
An economical oval gear line for non-flammable clean liquids, using a single hall effect sensor and offering an optional PT100 temperature sensor in the same body; stainless versions are stated as suitable for alcohols, water-based liquids, some aggressive liquids, AdBlue, and fuel and oil in saline marine environments.
Use it whenUse it when you want OM-style positive displacement accuracy in a compact, lower-cost package to build into a machine, test rig, or skid - and specify the PT100 option when you want temperature out of the same device, either to correct volume for density or to get a mass flow reading from the receiving instrument. Not for flammable liquids; go to OM with the hazardous-area certification instead.
QM40 Series
An oval gear meter listed on the site with a mechanical display.
Use it whenThe site lists this family but does not give it the detailed page the OM and EGM series get. Treat it as a mechanical-display oval gear option and confirm current sizes, ratings, and US availability with FLOMEC before quoting.
A spinning rotor in the stream - inexpensive, compact, and accurate on clean low-viscosity liquid, but it needs straight pipe and it will not tolerate air.
G2 Series
The full-featured precision turbine line, half-inch to two-inch, offered in stainless steel for most chemicals and fuels, aluminum for petroleum products, brass for water, and PVDF for aggressive chemicals; modular, so it takes output modules, sensors, remote transmitters, and the Q9 display computer, and it ships with a calibration report.
Use it whenThis is the default industrial turbine: batching, blending, food and beverage processing, plant process water, plating solutions, chemical feed lines, and harsh chemicals. Pick the housing material off the fluid. Choose G2 over the A1 or the economy series when you need a calibration report, a remote display, or an output module for a PLC.
A1 Series
A self-contained, battery-powered turbine meter, one-inch to two-inch, in aluminium for fuel products and nylon for water and non-aggressive chemicals, with a local display showing a resettable total, a cumulative total, and rate of flow.
Use it whenUse it when you want an accurate, basic meter with a display and no wiring - fuel transfer, plant process water, ag chemicals, solvents and glycol, simple batching. Pick aluminium for fuel and nylon for water and mild chemicals. Step up to the G2 if you need an output to a control system.
01A and 01N Economy Series
Economy turbine meters, listed by the site as 01A in aluminium and 01N in nylon.
Use it whenUse them where the job is simple totalizing on a budget and the fluid is straightforward - aluminium for petroleum products, nylon for water. These are the cheapest turbine option in the line; if the reading is going into anything that matters commercially, quote the G2 instead.
TM Series water meters
Turbine water meters, half-inch to two-inch in five sizes, stated to meet Schedule 80 PVC specifications, with a standard low-profile display, spigot, NPT or BSP fittings, and an alkaline battery FLOMEC rates at two years, with totals that survive power loss and battery changes.
Use it whenThis is the water-side turbine: OEM water treatment equipment and skids, sub-metering facility water, wastewater treatment equipment, irrigation, cooling towers and water-based cooling systems, plant process water. Choose it over the G2 when the fluid is water, the budget is tight, and Schedule 80 PVC is what the system is built from.
For pipe big enough that a full-bore meter is unaffordable - you insert a sensor and accept a little less accuracy for a lot less money.
DP Series insertion paddlewheel (DP490, DP525)
Paddlewheel insertion meters with one moving part, stated at 1.5 percent of reading, with IECEx and ATEX models available. The DP490 covers 1.5-inch to 36-inch pipe and the DP525 covers 2-inch to 100-inch, with the DP525 installable in a hot-tap configuration so it can be isolated behind a ball valve and removed.
Use it whenFLOMEC positions this as the deliberate alternative to an electromagnetic meter or a clamp-on ultrasonic when installed cost matters more than extreme accuracy - water distribution and treatment, boiler feed water, ballast water, HVAC water, fire system monitoring, wastewater, hydrant flow testing. Choose the DP525 specifically when the line cannot be shut down for service, because the hot-tap arrangement lets you pull the meter with the pipe still full. Choose the DP490 for pipe up to 36 inches when hot-tapping is not needed. It will also handle low-viscosity fuels and solvents, and the intrinsically safe display options put it into classified areas.
QS200 insertion ultrasonic
An insertion ultrasonic meter with no moving parts, in five pipe sizes from one to four inches, supplied either in a PVC tee or as an insert retrofit that drops into the fitting of an existing paddlewheel sensor, with LED indicators for meter failure, no flow, high flow and power, and compatibility with common irrigation controllers.
Use it whenThis is the answer to worn or seized impellers. Use it when a site keeps replacing paddlewheel sensors, or when flow alarms have been switched off because mechanical sensors kept crying wolf - the retrofit insert means you do not have to re-plumb. Commercial and agricultural irrigation, turf and landscape, micro-irrigation, groundwater monitoring, and sub-metering of high-rise, apartment, university and commercial buildings. Clean water only, and note FLOMEC's stated accuracy is on reading, not full scale.
The receiving instruments that take a pulse from a FLOMEC meter and turn it into a rate, a total, an output, or a controlled batch.
RT40 Rate Totaliser
A rugged LCD rate and total display with a configurable digital output that can be set as a pulse or an alarm, universal inputs for most positive displacement and turbine meters, five-point linearisation, a quadrature input for bi-directional flow with a suitable meter, and selectable units including litres, cubic metres, US and imperial gallons, cubic feet, barrels, kilograms and pounds.
Use it whenUse it for safe-area installations where a local display is wanted and the signal may also need to feed a fuel management system, PLC, or data logger. The five-point linearisation is the reason to specify it over a bare display - it meaningfully improves accuracy on a PD or turbine meter. The alarm output is worth pointing out on lubrication and bearing-flow duty, where the useful alarm is 'not enough flow'.
RT14 Rate Totaliser
The more capable local display, described by FLOMEC as the choice where the display also has to interface with external control or monitoring systems; across the totaliser range FLOMEC lists models from display-only up to analogue output with HART communications.
Use it whenUse it when a plain totaliser is not enough - when the reading has to go into a DCS or PLC as an analogue or HART signal, not just a pulse. Confirm which specific model carries HART for the application.
EB40 and EB11 batch controllers
Batch controllers listed by the site as the EB40 single-stage and the EB11 dual-stage.
Use it whenUse these when the job is to dispense a set quantity and stop, not just to read flow. Take the dual-stage EB11 when the batch needs to slow to a trickle before it closes, which is how you hit a target without overshooting on a fast line; the single-stage EB40 is fine where a simple shut-off is accurate enough.
Q9 display computer
A microprocessor display computer offered on the turbine meters, giving a resettable batch total, a non-resettable cumulative total, and rate of flow, factory calibrated in gallons and litres and field calibratable.
Use it whenSpecify it on a G2, A1 or TM meter when the operator needs both totals and a rate at the meter. FLOMEC publishes a separate Q9 owner's manual, so treat it as its own orderable item rather than an assumed accessory.
Packaged assemblies built around FLOMEC meters for two specific jobs, rather than components.
AIM Block additive injection manifold
An all-stainless manifold assembly with isolating, flow-regulating and check valves, a fine mesh strainer, a solenoid valve and a precision oval gear meter, rated at plus or minus 1 percent, in eighth-inch to three-eighths-inch connections, with IECEx and ATEX models available.
Use it whenUse it at a fuel loading rack or on a stationary or mobile transfer unit where small amounts of additive have to go into a fuel stream accurately - lubricity improvers, dyes, denaturants, detergents, odorants, anti-corrosion, anti-static, anti-icing and anti-foaming agents. FLOMEC states it works as a slave assembly to any controller or terminal automation system, so it fits an existing TAS rather than replacing it.
Fuel Consumption System (FCS)
A complete engine fuel monitoring kit: two EGM positive displacement meters with integral PT100 temperature sensors plus an F127 flow instrument, which corrects for the temperature difference between engine inlet and return and uses pulsating-flow electronics and a latching sensor board so injection pulsation and reverse flow do not create false counts. Offered as a land and gen-set kit and a marine kit.
Use it whenUse it when you need real fuel consumption on a diesel engine that has a recycle loop - ships, buses, trains, gen sets. FLOMEC explains why the naive approach fails: recirculation can run three to five times actual consumption, and an uncorrected 10 degree C inlet-to-return difference gives about 1 percent thermal expansion error, multiplied by that recirculation rate. Sell it on operating-cost accuracy, emissions and engine life, and on matching consumption against fuel purchased to find theft.
