+GF+ Signet
Flow, pH, and process sensors plus fittings and piping for water and fluids.
GF Signet is the measurement and control side of GF, making sensors and transmitters for water and corrosive liquids. The line has been designed and built in-house in Irwindale, California since the 1960s. What sets it apart from a general-purpose instrument line is that the sensors and their installation fittings are designed to go into GF plastic pipe, valves and fittings, so the instrument and the piping are one system rather than two purchases that have to be adapted to each other.
What we carry, by measurement
Pick what you’re measuring.
Several different measuring principles covering the same job, chosen mostly by what the liquid is and how much accuracy the process needs.
Paddlewheel flow sensors
Rugged, highly repeatable mechanical flow sensors that GF describes as offering exceptional value with little or no maintenance, available in PP, PVDF and stainless steel.
Use it whenuse them as the default for clean water and mild chemicals where repeatability matters more than absolute accuracy and budget is a real constraint - this is the workhorse of the line.
Magmeters
Electromagnetic flow sensors with no moving parts, offered in both insertion and full-bore models.
Use it whenuse a magmeter when the liquid is dirty, chemically aggressive or would foul a paddlewheel; pick insertion when space and cost drive the decision and full-bore when the accuracy has to be better.
2551 Wet-Tap Flow Meter
A magmeter designed so it can be installed and serviced without shutting the system down.
Use it whenuse it when the line cannot be taken out of service for maintenance - continuous processes, municipal water mains, anywhere a shutdown to pull a sensor is the real cost.
In-line rotor flow sensors
In-line sensors that measure both opaque and transparent liquids, with simple installation and the ability to be cleaned without powering down.
Use it whenuse them on small lines and on liquids an optical or paddlewheel sensor struggles with, particularly where periodic cleaning is expected.
Clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters
Non-invasive flowmeters that mount on the outside of existing pipe, described by GF as combining sophisticated measurement technology with simple mounting.
Use it whenuse them for a retrofit where you cannot cut into the pipe at all, or for a temporary survey - no wetted parts and no pressure boundary to break.
Variable area flow meters (rotameters)
Mechanical indicating flow meters GF calls an accurate and economical solution, easy to install and read.
Use it whenuse one when a local visual indication of flow is all that is needed and there is no signal to send anywhere - cooling water lines, chemical feed, purge flows.
The water-chemistry side of the line. GF notes these sensors are made in the United States, factory tested, and available certified pre-calibrated.
pH and ORP electrodes with 2751 smart sensor electronics
Process pH and ORP electrodes that carry a memory chip storing calibration data, operating data, manufacturing data and electrode health, paired with the 2751 smart sensor electronics.
Use it whenuse these when pH is a real control parameter rather than a spot check - the memory chip means the electrode carries its own calibration and health history, which is what makes remote calibration and troubleshooting practical across many sites.
Conductivity and resistivity sensors
Digital conductivity sensors offered in several configurations for installation flexibility.
Use it whenuse conductivity when you are watching dissolved solids, monitoring rinse water quality, or proving out a demineralised or RO stream.
Dissolved oxygen sensors
A rugged sensor built to deliver accurate dissolved oxygen data.
Use it whenuse it in wastewater aeration control and in any process where dissolved oxygen drives either biology or corrosion.
4170 Turbidimeter with 8640 touchscreen transmitter
A turbidity measurement system - the 4170 turbidimeter paired with the 8640 touchscreen transmitter.
Use it whenuse it for drinking water and filtration monitoring where turbidity is the reported compliance number.
Chlorine Analyzer System
An integrated all-in-one system that measures free chlorine or chlorine dioxide.
Use it whenuse it when you want disinfection residual as a packaged system rather than assembling sensor, flow cell and transmitter yourself - municipal water and treated process water.
The display and control end of the line. These accept GF's own sensors and any device that outputs 4-20 mA, which is what lets one panel cover a mixed installation.
9900 Transmitter
A single-channel multi-parameter transmitter with a large auto-sensing backlit display, in panel or field mount, that interfaces to flow, pH/ORP, conductivity/resistivity, salinity, pressure, temperature, level, dissolved oxygen and any 4-20 mA device.
Use it whenuse it when one measurement needs a local display and a signal out, and you want the same part number on the shelf regardless of which parameter it is reading - modularity is the point.
9950 Transmitter and Controller
A transmitter that integrates up to six sensors with logic and control, available in user-configurable two-channel and six-channel versions.
Use it whenuse it when a skid or a treatment train has several measurements that need to interact - it replaces multiple single-channel transmitters plus the small controller that would have tied them together.
8640 touchscreen transmitter
A touchscreen transmitter, shown paired with the 4170 Turbidimeter.
Use it whenuse it where the operator interface matters and the measurement is one of the analytical parameters it supports.
GF splits this into continuous level control and point level detection, which is the right way to shop it - decide first whether you need a number or an alarm.
Type 2298 radar level transmitter
An 80 GHz radar level transmitter GF says provides consistent and accurate filling level information across a wide range of tanks, process liquids and conditions.
Use it whenuse radar when the tank contents, vapour space or foam would defeat ultrasonic, and when you want one technology that works across a fleet of dissimilar tanks.
Type 2260 and 2270 ultrasonic level transmitters
Rugged non-contacting ultrasonic level transmitters for continuous level measurement.
Use it whenuse ultrasonic for straightforward vented tanks of clean liquid where radar is more instrument than the application needs.
Hydrostatic level sensors
Sensors that measure the weight of the fluid column, mounted through the tank wall or submerged from the top.
Use it whenuse hydrostatic in a sump, wet well or open basin where there is nowhere clean to aim a non-contact sensor from above.
Type 2280 Tuning Forks
Vibrating fork point level switches for liquids or granular and powdered solids, with fail-safe alarm capability.
Use it whenuse a fork when you need a reliable high or low alarm rather than a continuous reading, especially where a float would foul.
Type 2285 float switch
A float switch that triggers when its internal contact reaches a plus or minus 45 degree switching angle.
Use it whenuse it as the simple, low-cost point level alarm in clean liquid.
Conductive multipoint level switch
A conductivity-based level switch for liquids with conductivity above 10 microsiemens per centimetre.
Use it whenuse it when you need several level points in one probe and the liquid is conductive enough - a common choice for pump control in a tank.
A short, deliberately corrosion-focused part of the line rather than a broad pressure and temperature catalogue.
Pressure sensors
One-piece injection-moulded PVDF bodies with a ceramic diaphragm, offered in three pressure versions for optimal resolution.
Use it whenuse these when the wetted material is the deciding factor - an all-plastic body with a ceramic diaphragm on a chemical line where a stainless sensor would not survive.
Temperature sensors
One-piece injection-moulded PVDF bodies designed for corrosive liquids.
Use it whenuse them on the same basis as the pressure sensors: chemical compatibility first, and installed into the matching GF fitting so there is no adapter to leak.
