Trimteck
Control valves and flow, temperature, and pressure control.
Trimteck is a US control valve manufacturer in Coral Springs, Florida, building the Optimux line: globe, angle, 3-way, eccentric plug, V-notch ball, butterfly and triple-offset control valves, plus the actuators, positioners and severe-service trims that go with them. The company positions itself against the large valve houses on flexibility and lead time, and its technical centre of gravity is severe service - cavitation, flashing, noise and erosion - solved with a trim cartridge inside a standard OpGL body.
What we carry, by measurement
Pick what you’re measuring.
The core linear line and Trimteck's flagship. All OpGL variants share a piston cylinder actuator rather than a diaphragm, a top-guided unbalanced single-piece plug with the flow characteristic machined into the plug head, ANSI Class V metal-to-metal shutoff as standard with Class VI available soft seated, and a top-entry body for maintenance. Trimteck states ANSI CL600 body wall thickness on all ratings from CL150 to CL600, and an investment cast body.
OpGL Globe Control Valve
The flagship globe control valve, available in over eight trim sizes from micro-flow to full capacity, with the full range of anti-cavitation and noise abatement trims.
Use it whenthe default Trimteck valve and where every conversation should start. Use it for throttling on liquid, gas or steam where a globe body is acceptable. The piston actuator is the differentiator to lead with: stiffer and faster than a diaphragm, and a smaller lighter package, which matters on skid-mounted equipment where the diaphragm actuator will not fit.
OpGL Angle Body Control Valve
The same OpGL design in an angle body.
Use it whenuse it when the flow has to turn 90 degrees at the valve, and specifically on flashing and erosive service where you want the discharge aimed straight at the outlet with no change in direction. It is also the required body for the ST-5 venturi seat.
OpGL 3-Way Body Control Valve
A modular third port, modified plug and second seat added to a standard OpGL globe to make a diverging or converging valve. 1/2 in. through 24 in., body styles 3-way, fabricated (XT), vacuum jacketed and steam jacketed.
Use it whenuse it when one valve has to split a stream or blend two - a heat exchanger bypass, a temperature blend loop, a two-destination transfer. Because it is built on a standard OpGL, the trim, actuator and spare parts stay in the same family as the customer's other valves.
OpGL-XT Fabricated Body Control Valves
Fabricated rather than cast bodies, offered as globe, Y-pattern and angle body variants, and available in vacuum jacketed and steam jacketed constructions.
Use it whenuse XT when a casting is the problem: an odd size, an alloy that nobody pours, a very large body, or a lead time a foundry cannot meet. This is where Trimteck's build-to-spec argument does the most work against a large manufacturer's standard catalog.
The quarter-turn side of the Optimux line, for high flow, high rangeability and tight-space installations where a globe body is too heavy or too restrictive.
OpEXL Eccentric Rotary Plug Control Valve
Sometimes called a rotary globe. Handles differential pressures to 725 psi (50 bar), minus 150 deg F (minus 100 C) to 752 deg F (400 C), 1 in. to 14 in., ANSI Class 150 to 300, rangeability 160 to 1, Class IV and VI shutoff available, ISO shaft and mounting pad, three trim reductions per size. The plug cams into the seat, which eliminates friction and reduces the effect of abrasives.
Use it whenuse it as a lighter, cheaper, more compact alternative to a globe valve when you still need real rangeability - 160 to 1 against roughly 50 to 1 for a typical globe and 20 to 1 for a butterfly per Trimteck's own comparison. The camming seat action is the reason to pick it on mildly abrasive or dirty service.
OpEXL-FB High Capacity Eccentric Plug Control Valve
The full-bore, high-capacity version of the OpEXL, also offered in a cryogenic variant.
Use it whenuse it when the OpEXL is the right valve style but you need more Cv than the standard bore will pass - large gas or vapour lines where pressure drop across the valve has to stay low.
OpVEE V-Notch Ball Control Valve
Segmented V-notch ball control valve, 1 in. to 24 in., CL150 to CL600, carbon, stainless, alloy or chrome moly, rangeability 300 to 1, Class IV and VI shutoff, oversized post bearing system, large packing box with bolted flange, stem blowout prevention, EDM-splined shaft-to-ball connection to avoid lost motion and dead band.
Use it whenuse it on fibrous, slurried and sticky media - it is the pulp and paper answer - and anywhere you need very wide turndown. The 300 to 1 rangeability is the highest in Trimteck's line, so it is also the pick when one valve has to cover a very wide flow swing. The splined shaft matters if the customer has been fighting deadband.
OpTB Trunnion Mounted Ball Valve and Trunnion Mounted V-Notch Ball Valve
Trunnion-mounted ball control valves, including a V-notch variant and a cryogenic variant.
Use it whenuse it when the differential pressure or the shutoff requirement is beyond a segmented ball - the trunnion mounting carries the load rather than the seats. Also the path into cryogenic ball control.
OpDX High Performance Butterfly Valve
Double-offset high performance butterfly using a pressure-assisted seating concept for bi-directional bubble-tight shutoff at low breakout torque. 2 in. to 36 in., CL150 to CL600, carbon or stainless, metal seat (Class IV) or soft seat (Class VI), characterized disc with modified parabolic geometry machined into the seat, flangeless wafer body to MSS SP-67 face-to-face. The eccentric disc lifts off the seat to prevent wear.
Use it whenuse it on large lines where a globe or ball control valve is too heavy, too long or too expensive, and the throttling requirement is moderate. The MSS SP-67 short face-to-face means shorter flange bolting than a ball or eccentric plug valve, which Trimteck argues reduces leak paths. Do not use it for precise low-flow control.
OpTE Triple Offset Butterfly Valve
Triple-offset butterfly in the control valve range.
Use it whenuse it when the duty needs metal-seated, torque-seated, non-rubbing shutoff in a butterfly footprint - high temperature and cycling service. The site does not publish a detail page equivalent to the OpDX, so confirm ratings with the factory.
Trim cartridges and seals that drop into a standard OpGL body. This is the heart of the line and the reason to bring Trimteck into a problem valve. Note the trims are specified against the cavitation index sigma, so the sizing conversation needs the process pressures, not just the flow.
ST-1 Single Stage Anti-Cavitation Trim Cartridge
A cost-effective single-stage trim with diametrically opposed drilled stepped holes that force vapour jets to impinge on each other in a column at the centre of the valve gallery rather than eroding the body or trim. Tolerates sigma as low as 1.2 and can be characterized.
Use it whenuse it when cavitation is present but mild and the budget is real. It does not stop cavitation, it moves the damage away from the parts you care about. If sigma is well below 1.2, go to ST-2.
ST-2 Multi-Stage Anti-Cavitation Trim Cartridge
Concentric cylinders of drilled holes and grooved channels producing a series of pressure drops through repeated expansion and contraction. Tolerates sigma as low as 1.001, can be characterized, eliminates mild to moderate cavitation and minimises hydrodynamic noise.
Use it whenuse it when you want to prevent cavitation from occurring rather than manage its damage. This is the standard answer for a high pressure drop liquid letdown that is eating valves - pump recirculation, boiler feed recirc, high dP water.
ST-3 Noise Abatement Valve Trim (with ST-3D and ST-3P diffusers)
Concentric cylinder cage design controlling both pressure and velocity of gas to cut the turbulence that causes aerodynamic noise. Two variants: a one or two stage design reducing up to 15 dBA, and a multi-stage design up to 30 dBA. The one and two stage cartridges fit the standard OpGL without modifying plug or seat. ST-3D diffuser and ST-3P diffuser plate are separate downstream noise abatement devices.
Use it whenuse it on gas and steam letdown where noise is the complaint or the spec limit. Try the one or two stage first because it drops into an existing OpGL; go multi-stage when you need the full 30 dBA. Where the valve alone cannot get there, add the ST-3D or ST-3P downstream instead of oversizing the trim.
ST-4 Stacked Disc Valve Trim
Individual discs machined with concentric channels and stacked into a compact cylinder clamped into the OpGL body cavity, where it doubles as the seat retainer. Flow is under the plug through jagged grooves forcing a series of 45-degree dives and ascents, or 90-degree labyrinthine turns, with channel size increasing to allow expansion. For liquid, gas or dual-phase service.
Use it whenuse it for the worst pressure drops - the ones that will destroy an ST-2 - and for dual-phase service where you have both cavitation and noise. This is the top of the trim range; it is also the one where the sizing has to be done by Trimteck.
ST-5 Venturi Valve Seat for Flashing Service
A venturi seat that promotes controlled expansion of vapour to bring outlet velocity down to acceptable limits without turbulent flow. Used exclusively in angle-body valves so discharge is directed at the outlet with no change in direction. For sigma below 1.0. Typically 400-series stainless hardened with CVD-5B.
Use it whenuse it when the service is FLASHING, not cavitating - sigma below 1.0, the fluid does not recover to liquid. An anti-cavitation trim is the wrong tool here and will not survive. Note it forces an angle body, so this decision changes the valve, not just the trim. Tolerant of dirty service and economical to replace.
GuardMaster Metal Bellows Seal
A metal bellows stem seal for the OpGL giving zero fugitive emissions, in Inconel as standard with Hastelloy B and C variations, full traceability, modular construction with minimal weld points and an optional monitoring port. Rated to 6 million cycles, minus 380 deg F to 1120 deg F, pressures to 1300 psi.
Use it whenuse it when packing is not acceptable - LDAR-driven fugitive emission limits, toxic or highly hazardous media, or a customer who has been fined. It is a bolt-on option to the OpGL rather than a different valve, which makes it an easy retrofit conversation.
Trimteck engineers, sizes and manufactures its own rotary and linear pneumatic actuators, and offers its own HPP positioner series in pneumatic and digital.
OpTK Linear Piston Cylinder Actuator
The linear piston cylinder actuator used on the OpGL family.
Use it whenthis is what makes the OpGL what it is - use it as the reason to prefer Trimteck when the customer has stiffness, speed or footprint problems with diaphragm-actuated valves, particularly on skids.
OpTK Rotary Piston Cylinder Actuator
The rotary version of the piston cylinder actuator.
Use it whenuse it on the rotary valves - OpEXL, OpVEE, OpTB - where you want the same high thrust piston approach rather than a rack and pinion.
OpRPA High Performance Rack and Pinion Rotary Actuator
Rack and pinion rotary pneumatic actuator.
Use it whenthe conventional quarter-turn actuator, for on-off and moderate throttling duty on the rotary valves where the torque is within range.
OpSY Scotch Yoke Rotary Actuator
Scotch yoke rotary pneumatic actuator.
Use it whenuse it when the torque required is beyond a rack and pinion, or where a spring-return fail position is needed at high torque - large rotary valves and emergency shutdown duty.
HPP Series Positioners - HPP5500, HPP4000 and HPP2800
Trimteck's own positioners: HPP5500 intrinsically safe digital, HPP4000 explosion proof digital, HPP2800 pneumatic. The positioner overview page states the digital range supports HART, Foundation Fieldbus and PROFIBUS with real-time feedback, diagnostics and remote calibration.
Use it whenpick HPP2800 where there is no signal or no electrical permit and air-only is the answer; HPP5500 for an intrinsically safe area classification; HPP4000 where the installation requires an explosion-proof enclosure. Match the area classification first, then the protocol.
Steam temperature control - injecting a measured amount of cooling water into superheated steam to bring it to a usable temperature. The OpDSH nozzles are the temperature-control half of Trimteck's flow, pressure and temperature story.
OpDSH-VSpray Desuperheater Nozzle
Spray-type desuperheater nozzle.
Use it whenthe general-purpose spray nozzle. Start here on a standard attemperation job where the steam conditions and turndown are moderate.
OpDSH-VSpring Desuperheater Nozzle
Spring-assisted desuperheater nozzle.
Use it whenuse it where the spray has to atomise well across a wide load range - the spring keeps the nozzle differential up as flow falls, which is the usual fix for poor atomisation at low load.
OpDSH-VFix Desuperheater Nozzle
Fixed-orifice desuperheater nozzle.
Use it whenuse it on steady, single-point duty where the load does not swing and a simple fixed nozzle is enough - the cheapest and simplest of the four.
OpDSH-VVent Desuperheater Nozzle
Vent-type desuperheater nozzle.
Use it whenuse it on vent and blowdown service, where steam is being dumped to atmosphere or to a condenser and has to be cooled on the way. Confirm the arrangement with Trimteck; the site does not detail the selection between the four nozzles.
Below minus 320 deg F Trimteck states most valves fail through material embrittlement, seal degradation or unreliable shutoff, and it builds a dedicated cryogenic range plus a custom-engineering service. Named end uses are LNG terminals, air separation, industrial gas production and aerospace fuel and propulsion test systems including liquid oxygen.
OpGL Cryogenic Globe, Angle and 3-Way Control Valves
Cryogenic versions of the OpGL globe, angle body and 3-way valves, in linear motion cryogenic construction.
Use it whenuse these for LNG, liquid nitrogen, oxygen and argon throttling where you need globe valve control characteristics. The extended bonnet and cryogenic construction are the difference; do not quote a standard OpGL for cryogenic service.
OpGL-XT Cryogenic Fabricated Body Valves
Cryogenic fabricated-body valves in angle and globe Y-pattern configurations.
Use it whenuse when the cryogenic valve also has to be an odd size, alloy or geometry that a casting will not cover - large LNG service and one-off test-stand valves.
OpEXL and OpEXL-FB Cryogenic Eccentric Plug Rotary Control Valves
Rotary motion cryogenic eccentric plug valves, standard and high-capacity full bore.
Use it whenuse these when you need rotary cryogenic control - high flow at low pressure drop, typically large LNG and air separation lines where a globe body would be too restrictive.
OpTB Cryogenic Trunnion Mounted Ball Control Valve
Cryogenic trunnion-mounted ball control valve.
Use it whenuse it for cryogenic duty needing tight shutoff at higher differential - transfer and isolation-plus-control points on a cryogenic system.
XT Custom Valve Design Services
An engineering service rather than a catalog item: Trimteck designs and builds a valve to the application, listed under Custom Engineered and Specialty Valves.
Use it whenuse it when the answer genuinely is not in anyone's catalog - aerospace test stands, hydrogen service, an existing valve that has to be replaced in a fixed face-to-face, or a jacketed or vacuum-jacketed body. This is Trimteck's real differentiator against the large houses, so lead with it on an odd inquiry rather than trying to force a standard model.
