Westlock
Valve networking, monitoring, and control.
Westlock has built solutions for monitoring and controlling process valves since 1984. The line covers the full span from a plain limit switch box up to a networked control monitor and a digital positioner: switchboxes that report whether a valve is open or shut, position transmitters that report how far open it is, control monitors that add the solenoid and drive the actuator, and network modules that put all of it on a fieldbus. Westlock organises its own catalogue as valve monitoring, valve monitoring plus control, smart positioners and digital positioners.
What we carry, by measurement
Pick what you’re measuring.
Position feedback only. These integrate switches, sensors, wiring terminals, an enclosure and local visual indication into one unit for rotary or linear valves.
AccuTrak position monitors
Compact position monitors combining switches, sensors, wiring terminals, enclosure and local visual indication, offered in stainless steel, aluminium and engineered resin, in explosionproof/flameproof, intrinsically safe, non-incendive, increased safety and weatherproof versions.
Use it whenuse AccuTrak as the standard monitoring-only choice, and let the area classification and the enclosure material pick the specific version - the reason to specify it is the breadth of certifications from general purpose right through to hazardous.
MagPAC switches
A magnetic switch option rated by Westlock for up to 100 million cycles, with standard LED indication confirming both switch and solenoid performance, and dual certification for intrinsically safe and non-incendive locations. Fitted into Quantum and AccuTrak models.
Use it whenuse MagPAC when you want to carry one switch box that covers both intrinsically safe and non-incendive locations - the dual certification is an inventory decision as much as a technical one - and where high cycle life matters.
Digital EPIC D200 Series
A modular 4-20 mA loop current position transmitter combining switch options with HART protocol for continuous valve monitoring.
Use it whenuse it when open and shut is not enough and you want continuous travel feedback plus HART diagnostics, but you do not need partial stroke or shutdown functions.
These add the pilot solenoid, and in the networked versions the fieldbus interface, so one device both drives the actuator and reports back.
Quantum control monitors
Control monitors integrating position sensors and low-power solenoid valves in a single unit with pre-wired solenoid pilot valves, options for materials, coil voltages and number of coils, hermetically sealed proximity switches and explosionproof junction housings. Available explosionproof/flameproof, intrinsically safe, non-incendive, increased safety encapsulated and weatherproof.
Use it whenuse Quantum when you want the solenoid and the position feedback to arrive as one pre-wired assembly - the argument is faster commissioning and fewer field connections than mounting a switchbox and a solenoid separately.
Intellis network control monitors
Valve monitoring and control with field networking, using embedded I/O to connect field devices to a host PLC or DCS. Dual Hall-effect position sensors, optional low-power solenoid, a network interface module, and cycle count diagnostics. Supports FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Profibus, DeviceNet and AS-Interface.
Use it whenuse Intellis when there are enough automated valves that home-running every one back to the PLC is the dominant installed cost - the networking is what saves the wire, and the cycle counting is what gives you maintenance data you did not have before.
Pharma II
A position and control monitor built specifically for sanitary applications, monitoring and controlling rotary and linear sanitary diaphragm valves, compatible with major sanitary valve makers, with DeviceNet or AS-Interface networking and NEC/CEC non-incendive classification.
Use it whenuse it on sanitary diaphragm valves in pharmaceutical and hygienic processes - this is the version to specify when the valve is a sanitary diaphragm valve rather than an industrial ball or butterfly valve.
The Digital EPIC family scales from simple continuous feedback up to safety testing functions. This is where Westlock competes on diagnostics rather than on enclosure.
Digital EPIC D400 Series
An integrated transmitter for complex process applications requiring partial stroke testing or remote emergency shutdown initiation over HART.
Use it whenuse it on shutdown and isolation valves that must be proof-tested without interrupting the process - partial stroke testing on demand from the control room is the reason to move up from a D200.
Digital EPIC D500 Series
An intelligent position transmitter with discrete position control, non-contact feedback and HART communication, plus advanced diagnostics covering emergency shutdown, partial stroke testing, solenoid operated valve testing, pulse pressure and full stroke testing.
Use it whenuse it when the valve is safety-critical enough that you want the solenoid tested too, not just the valve - solenoid operated valve testing is the differentiator here, since a stuck solenoid is a common hidden failure on an idle shutdown valve.
Digital EPIC variants D230 to D291, D410 to D470, D510 to D550
Certification and enclosure variants of the three base series, spanning intrinsically safe through explosionproof with aluminium or stainless steel enclosures.
Use it whenpick the variant from the area classification and enclosure material after you have chosen D200, D400 or D500 on function - the base series decides what it does, the variant decides where it can live.
Two distinct products, and the difference is mostly how integrated you want the package and which networks you need.
K20 smart positioner
A smart positioner for modulating valve applications using non-contact Hall effect sensing to eliminate linkages, with a spool valve manifold Westlock states was tested for two billion operational cycles, rapid auto-calibration, a standard 4-20 mA positioner transmitter, optional limit switches and HART 7.
Use it whenuse the K20 as the modern default for a modulating control valve where you want HART 7, quick auto-calibration and no mechanical linkage to wear - the very high spool valve cycle rating is the pitch for high-frequency control loops.
ICoT digital positioner
A digital positioner with over fifteen years of service across oil and gas, chemical, power and food and beverage, using non-contact sensing, supporting remote mounting, and integrating over HART with FOUNDATION Fieldbus and Profibus PA network capability.
Use it whenuse ICoT when the plant is on FOUNDATION Fieldbus or Profibus PA rather than HART, or when the positioner has to be remote-mounted away from a valve that vibrates or runs hot.
